Firefox and Browse By Name
Mozilla Firefox has long had a particularly nice feature when typing non-URLs into the address bar – it does a “I’m feeling lucky”-lookup with Google and takes you straight to the webpage that best matches your keyword. Effectively, this means you can go to a particular website by just typing a few easy to remember keywords, instead of the entire URL, e.g. ‘imdb’ to go straight to the Internet Movie Database or ‘wikipedia’ to go straight to Wikipedia.org.
Google has now also introduced this feature in their Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer as mentioned in Jesse Rudermans weblog here.
