Firefox 1.0 is out!

It finally happened. The Mozilla Firefox browser went gold.

The free, open-source browser created at the hands of hundreds, if not thousands, of collaborates in their spare, unpaid time is now a feature-rich, stable product.

Having used it on and off since around 0.4 and permanently since 0.7, I can honestly say that the result is astounding. The developers have had the time and will to contemplate every little speck of the interface, thus allowing any user interaction with Firefox to have been taken into account. This truly shows in the final product. It supports 3rd party extensions, and the browser can thus extend it’s capabilities indefinitely. Hundreds of extensions are available already.

It even had around two minutes worth of airtime on Danish national television, TV2 Finans. The clip is available here, and the review of Firefox starts around 1:48 minutes into the clip. It’s in Danish, obviously.

Download Firefox 1.0 here. Unfortunately no (official) Danish translation is available yet.
