Projects in the thinking …
I’m finding a lot of interesting projects to undertake or partake in at the moment.
I’m in the process of learning how to compile MLdonkey on Windows, for Windows. It’s a challenge, and that’s the main reason why it’s interesting. I’m maintaining a guide here. I’m also chatting with the folks over at MLdonkey World forums for info (I’m the newbie there).
Also, I’m very interested in the progress the Zuul developers have been doing on getting their webinterface for MLdonkey to utilize the binary GUI protocol that the core provides. After we had a brief talk about it here, they went on a crusade for making their module PEAR compliant. A noble cause if anything, I’d say. They’re great guys, and I hang around their IRC channel from time to time as well. Also, I’m mirroring their sourcecode documentation in the projects section (for the hell of it).
Apart from that, PHPhiler is undergoing major changes – I’ve committed an unstable version 0.3.0 to CVS, which is ugly (codewise), but has the newest features implemented. I’m still finding minor bugs, but the most work left is cleaning up the code and commenting it, so I can PHPDoc it. The progress so far can be seen in the projects section (unstable only).
Finally, I’ve been thinking about how to use the P800 that is at my disposal from work for synchronizing my work calendar with a private one. At work we use a SyncML server for remote synchronization (sync’ing via the USB cradle isn’t possible there). I’m thinking that I should be able to install a SyncML-compliant server on my Linux-box and use that for remote sync’ing with home. My private PC could then synchronize via LAN, possibly via SyncML as well. It would go something like this:
Private PC <--LAN--> Linux Box <--Inet-->
P800 <--Inet--> Work server (Netware)
Perhaps I can even get my Linux box to synchronize directly with the server at work, so the P800 just becomes another client for my calendar. Hmm … this has possibilites. Anyway, I’ve found lots of interesting software for SyncML/Linux. Debian has a package in unstable that is a SyncML plugin for MultiSync, and MultiSync, apparently, has a plugin for Sync4j, a J2EE server that is bundled with the JBoss Application Server. *phew* … But Sync4j itself contains SyncML functionality, so maybe it’ll create a giant, recursive synchronization loop if I attempt to install them all at the same time. You know, one of those that create holes in the time-space continuum. Wouldn’t want that.
… must .. get .. smarter … must .. obtain .. more .. knowledge … Well .. in any case, I’m not bored
